Kick off meeting in Voula 18-19/01/2018

Launching conference of BAS project took place in Voula town (Vari – Voula –Vouliagmen Municipality) on 18/01/2018.

The program was as follows:

  • Opening of the by mayor of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni, Mr. Grigoris Kostantellos.
  • Salutation by Mr. Anemogianis vice – mayor of Nea Filadelfeia – Nea Chalkidona Municipality
  • Salutation by Rena Dourou head of Prefecture of Attica
  • Presentation of the project “Benefit As you Save – BAS” by Director of Waste Management and Recycle Department of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni Municipality, Mr. Miltiadis Kavrakos
  • Salutation on behalf of Mayor of Limassol – Cyprus.
  • Salutation on behalf of Mayor of Tirana – Albania
  • Salutation on behalf of Mayor of Sofia Municipality – Sofia
  • Salutation of representative of the Faculty for Technology of University St. Kliment Ohridski – FYROM
  • Salutation of representative of Environmental Center for Development Education and Networking – Albania
  • Presentation of good practice “Vita – Green” of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni Municipality by Professor Mr. Konstantinos Chasapis.
  • Presentation of good practice of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni Municipality “Increase Recycling Rates, while Increasing citizen’s engagement” by head of Cyclefi, Mr. George Stegos.
  • “ The concept of National Waste Management Planification” – Mrs. Spanudi Despoina, Chemical Engineer, Consultant of Nea Filadelfeia – Chalkidona Municipality.
  • “Pay as You Throw schemes in Greece” – Mr. Philipos Kirkitsos, Dr. Environmental Scientist, collaborator of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni Municipality

In the afternoon took place the kick of meeting of the project

The issues discussed were:

  • Administrative – management framework , basic reference documents of BAS project and of Balkan Med Program
  • Methodology and Tools to follow up activities and reporting, financial issues, audit trail system
  • Communication Plan guidelines
  • Pending issues, next steps and Time Schedule of transnational meetings

The 1st transnational workshop about BAS plans development  took place

The issues discussed were 

  • Contents of a Guide to Develop Local Plans based in BAS concept
  • A proposal about the structure of Local BAS plans by Lead Partner
